Virtual Sexuality
Reviewed by: Angus Wolfe Murray
Made in the style of a teen magazine, Virtual Sexuality assumes that the tribulations of a 17-year-old virgin in her search for the most fanciful boy to do it with is both interesting and hilarious. Actually, it's pathetic.
Justine is far too attractive, confident and fun to have missed out this far. Also, Laura Fraser, who acts silly 'n' smiley, is well into her twenties and works too hard at being a giggle doll.
After a power cut at the Virtual Reality Expo, she turns into her dream guy (Rupert Penry-Jones, 29). He is a girl in another body, which becomes complicated when Justine, who is still around for some reason, falls for him, who is her. Eh?
There is something patronising about all this, as if the filmmakers think kids are idiots and need mindless drivel, dressed up with graffiti graphics, to satisfy their insatiable appetite for trivia.
